    Description

    Licinius I 308-324 A.D.
    Born in 263, Licinius I rose to the rank of Augustus of the West, when so appointed by Gallerius.
    The edict issued by Gallerius, granting some rights to Christians, was reissued jointly by Licinius I and Constantine the great.
    But the two were competitors, and Constantine eventually had Licinius I executed in 325 A.D.

    Jupiter standing left, naked but for chlamys across left shoulder, holding Victory on globe and sceptre, eagle at foot left with wreath in its beak, captive at foot right.
